Hi everyone, I bought a 2nd hand G3 (10.3.9 800Mhz 256 mb ram ) on eBay for my nephew to use for school homework. No original instal disks came with unit unfortunately (big mistake) . Needs to use Safari but found that unit only has 'Safari copy' & doesn't open the internet. Not being a wiz on this, i assume previous owner somehow deleted original Safari which came with the unit & copied from another Apple. The 'copy' is in the Applications folder but
i would guess there are other parts of Safari ,preferences,extensions(?) or whatever (unknown to me) are missing. Tried instal disks from a G4 but of course as i learnt these will only work on the original unit they came with.
Tried d/loading latest Safari 4.0.3 from Apple site. That didn't work either.My nephew needs to access the net for his homework assignments. Is there any way to get this copy to work or where i can get a full Safari version without having to buy a set of the proper instal disks from an Apple dealer (cost too much). Hopefully someone here has an idea what's going on with this machine. I haven't had much trouble with the Macs I've owned, so I don't have a lot of experience with troubleshooting.
I got on my friend's iBook yesterday and noticed she hadn't installed any updates in a while. This is a 500 Mhz G3 iBook running OS X 10.4. So I went through all of the udates and installed everything, and today none of the Apple branded applications will open. iChat, Safari, etc. will bounce a few times on the dock when you click on them, but they won't open. I tried running disk utility but when it opens it says a background process that needs to be running did not start properly and then it crashes and I have to force Disk Utility to quit. My friend doesn't have the original Tiger disks, as the person she bought the computer from just installed Tiger on the computer and kept the disks (I know, I would have advised her against a sale like this if I had known about it).
But anyway, the computer has worked just fine until this last update. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be or how we might go about fixing it without Disk Utilit?

I can update other software, like iTunes, fine.
Softwar Update says the update is 286MB in size, I can only find the 442MB delta update and the 729MB combo update on the internet.

Shawn wasabi mac n cheese downloads. Every time I try to download it, it says error about 80mB into the download.
Then it tells me to look for the package through Finder but I can't find it.
And it happens EVERY TIME I try to download it.
It's driving me nuts that I'm wasting my precious internet on this pointless downloading! I could have had the update by now!

The OSX 10.5.5 Software Update won't download or install to my MacBookPro. The error message tells me that it can't be saved and that I 'do not have appropriate access privileges. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder.'
The access privileges point is a bit odd as I am the owner and sole user of this MacBook. There is no sign of the Installer in the Trash so I can't get it from there.

I have recently upgraded from 10.4 to 10.5, everything has been fine apart from I now cannot seem to be able to download anything. When I click on a link to download, the page loads for a second and then gets stuck on a grey screen and the download window doesn't open. I have tried different browsers and all of my updates are current but still nothing.

I've been trying to download the new update for iTunes on my Macbook, its version 10.6 and I keep getting this message - The update iTunes cannot be installed, software update cant connect to the update server.Make sure you are connected to the internet and try again. Before the above message shows, it shows the downloading bar, with just Zero KB downloading, after a while it says the above message. My Internet connection is fine everything is working that uses the Internet in my house is working fine, Safari is working on my Macbook. It has been like this for the last few days now. I am trying to set up a HP PSC 2355 that is on the network shared from a pc. There are two macbooks that will be using it. They are both running 10.5 software and don't have snow leopard on them. The one set up and works fine, but the other I can't seem to get a good driver for when setting up the printer. The download from HPs site doesn't just have the driver, it's an entire package that you have to install. I just bought a new MacBook and I'm updating the software (ironic).The issue is that both software update and iTunes are saying there is a new version, but it won't finish the download. 'The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs.' There is a note at the bottom that iTunes: Partially Downloaded (22%)I've rebooted twice, and I have looked in the download folder, but I can not find this partially downloaded file

i have a G4, serial number qt21106cl3v. i just installed os x 10.2.3. i cant get on fb or any site that uses flash. it says for me to download shockwave. ive tried and it wont install. i tried to download a new browser, like firefox, or another version of safari and i have no luck.
i cant decide whether its a virus or what. i just got the computer from a yard sale and its in excellent condition. i had to reinstall os x though cuz it had no os. any ideas?? you can find additional info by searching for specs through the serial. i have no prior knowledge of macs and am trying to learn quickly.
also, as in the heading, safari keeps crashing when i try to download any kind of new browser, and the auto updates arent working either.
